I completed this farm house renovation in 2021. It has been in their family for many years and originally built by a grandfather. I was contracted to help the family restore the house to its former beauty. The pier and beam house had a well-built solid structure to work with. We gutted the house down to bare framing on the inside, leaving the beautiful and original oak hard-wood flooring. New life for the home included the installation of all new plumbing, electrical, HVAC system, new windows, and exterior doors. We repaired the original house siding with new material to match the original. The square footage expanded some as we added on a new laundry room to the existing structure. The exterior received a fresh coat of paint and the original oak flooring was re-finished. The finishing touches of this project featured all new appliances, new tile in the kitchen backsplash, bathroom tub shower, and all new light fixtures. The original interior doors were used and re-painted. All new door and cabinet hardware was installed. The cabinets are all new custom built with granite counter tops. The original corrugated metal skirting around the exterior was replaced with a more stylish looking treated wood that was painted the same as the siding. The addition of a front porch deck and a porch deck off the laundry room was a nice finishing touch. This extensive renovation far out in the country ended up taking a little over 10 months, start to finish, with all the demolition, additions, and new mechanical, electrical and plumbing, including a new septic system. The result is a very attractive, brand new, 75-year-old house. Projects like this are complex and time consuming, but I enjoy bringing back to life a house with so much history.
